MAVADO LET ME SHINE URE HALO
Singjay Mavado is hosting a special back-to-school treat for the children of Kingston 8 this Saturday. The annual treat, now in its fifth year, will be held at Cassava Piece as usual, but is open to children and families from across the Kingston 8 area.Mavado was recently instrumental in forging peace between rival communities in the area and expects the treat to be even better. The treat will be a day-and-night affair, with bounceabouts, clowns, merry-go-rounds, face-painting and other activities for the kids in the daytime, including the giving away of school bags, books and supplies. Sound systems will also blast the community as the event also doubles as a memorial to Mavado's Father, Stanford Brooks, as this month will mark five years since his passing. Mavado added in the release: "Not a day goes by without me thinking of my father. And while I am a little sad he is not here to feel the joy, I am sure he is looking down and smiling to know his son has achieved great things and is giving back to the community. It's also a celebration of the peace we've been working for, so everybody is welcome."

TYSON GAY RESPONDS 2 BOLT'S STATEMENT
"I don't hate Usain Bolt deep down inside (laughs)," the IAAF website quoted Gay as saying when asked to respond to what Bolt had told reporters in London earlier in the week.
Bolt, who is in London promoting the release of his book, is reported to have told the BBC that Gay "probably just hates my guts" because he (Bolt) has dominated major championships over the past three seasons.
Bolt hadn't lost an individual race in two years until last month, when Gay beat him in Stockholm in a 100- metre race and said, "Deep down I think he probably just hates my guts".
Gay, however, defined his relationship with Bolt as a mutually respectful one.
"Our relationship is cool. I've known him since 2005... 2006, since we've been competing against each other in Jamaica. I've always had a cool relationship with him on the track and off the track. We've never gone to a club together or anything like that, but it's always been a mutual respect on my part. So that's how it's always been for me.I'm pretty happy with the victory. I didn't run as fast as I wanted to run, but at the same time I still had the win. I'm undefeated this season (at 100m) and that's what's most important."

DJ Flippa Mafia is reportedly out on bail in the United States.
The artiste, real name Andrew Davis, was arrested earlier this year after he was allegedly caught trying to enter the United States illegally from the Bahamas in March. The DJ was arrested on March 16 and at the time knew he had no current legal immigration status in the U.S.After being arrested, Flippa was being held as a prosecution witness against Julio Santiesteban and Armando Amat, who were charged with encouraging and inducing an alien to enter or reside in the United States. Since then, Flippa has been held in Federal custody, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and more recently was reportedly being held in state custody. According to a number of sources he is out on bail and is currently in Philadelphia, where he resided when he previously lived in the United States. Friends of the DJ also claim they have spoken to him since his release.

We are not about to try to deny that Ragashanti Live, the popular talk show that Dr Kingsley 'Ragashanti' Stewart used to host on NewsTalk 93FM, represented a significant, albeit unenviable, aspect of our culture.
Yes, sadly, there is in our society, a rather unfortunate streak that has manifested itself in a dangerous potpourri of antisocial behaviour.
Said behaviour is at the root of the increasing crime rate that has all but overwhelmed us in recent years.
The murders, the rapes, the instances of carnal abuse, the teenage pregnancies... most if not all have their genesis in what Dr Stewart dubbed 'mix up'.
Why anyone would want to glorify and wallow in this particular phenomenon in the name of culture or anything else is beyond us.
However, as Dr Stewart's ratings proved, many people fell in love with the idea of airing their dirty linen — day in, day out — on the airwaves.
According to the estimate quoted by Dr Stewart in yesterday's edition, the show raked in over $70 million between 2008 and now.
That's nothing to sneeze at within the context of the current global economic crunch. However, it doesn't follow that a radio station, which purports to be representative of the region's premier university, can afford — in the name of money, ratings, cultural democracy or anything else — to hold its nose above what we deem to be undiluted slackness.
As a doctor of anthropology, Dr Stewart understood, perhaps better than most, why many of us behave the way we do.
He therefore could have used that knowledge on the platform which he was so privileged to have occupied to lift the mass of dullards who patronised his offerings from the social abyss which inspired them to glorify the unseemly.
The tambourines which he beat so vigorously in support of the poor women whose vision was eternally blighted by the belief that their most valuable asset lay between their legs as opposed to their ears, could have been used to celebrate so many other uplifting aspects of our culture.

Minister of misinformation Daryl Vaz is asking the media to be fair in its criticisms of the government.
Mr. Vaz was commenting on criticism of the Government made in the media.Without going into details, Mr. Vaz said there have been some headlines in a section of the media, which he says any objective observer would regard as sensational and misleading.
Mr. Vaz says the Government is asking the media to go easy. He stated that he respects the media adding that he is open to discussing any concerns that the media may have.
Minister Vaz said Prime Minister Bruce Golding met with the private sector leader today to discuss issues including the Manatt, Phelps and Phillips affair, over which the Government has been harshly criticized.

Rumours of a rift have been circulating since Friday, after a broadcast message was sent via Blackberry messenger that was allegedly sent by Kartel and directed at the Zip Jock. In the message Kartel seemingly takes offence to Liquid's use of his slang 'Oh'. The broadcast read, "pawdie how ya tell people say a you gimme 'oh'. Liquid, mi a tek it to the stage shows and tell people dem fi warn you and Beenie. Member mi a one of the baddest deejay ever and you a wanna-be DJ. You tek mi style and never say thanks. If you haffi gimme a line in a tune mi stop DJ."
Describing the incident as "foolishness" Liquid described Kartel as a friend and brethren and could not understand how the broadcast and its content came about. Liquid, however, says "mi alrite, mi good. Mi just 'low it and start pree tings differently."
When contacted Kartel also confirmed that the two were good.

Yesterday, Professor Gordon Shirley — principal of the UWI Mona Campus and chairman of Universal Media Company Ltd, operators of NewsTalk 93 FM — said in an afternoon release that he received an e-mail from Stewart in which he stated that effective yesterday, the programme would no longer air.
"The board of management of the station, after careful review of the matter, determined that in the best interest of the University of the West Indies, Mona, and the station, that the programme should be discontinued with immediate effect and appropriate music played until further notice," the release said.
With approximately an hour and 20 minutes left in the broadcast, the order was given for the microphone to be cut, angering listeners and betraying just how stormy the relationship between host and owners had become.
Hours later, Stewart said he tendered his resignation as he was tired of the "continued harassment" and constant fight over the nature of his programme.
Ragashanti Live, Stewart said, has raked in well over $70 million between 2008 and now. Recent media surveys have in at the number two slot. Stewart, who started out with the station close to three years ago from Hot102 FM where he hosted the current affairs programme Upfront with Ragashanti, said that he had received a more lucrative offer elsewhere and had hopes of sealing that deal next Thursday with broadcast to start in October.

BAN NEWSTALK 93 FM AS OF TODAY!!!! MAKE IT HAPPEN....
So Ragashanti is no longer with Newstalk. They cut Raga off the air wen he was about to announce his leaving. I think he was fought against, treated unfairly from day one n many ppl like Fae Ellington,contributed to this decision but his fans are ready to start the protest.There is a fb page created entitled " No Raga no Newsstalk" n rightfully so. I will not be listening to any programs on Newstalk 93 fm in his honor. No commercials,not even news....n I do hope others join this " Newstalk ban". He will be on the internet soon n hopefully as rumoured he will be on air in the tristate area NY real soon.Cris cross n Ruth also quit

David Rowe says the setback in Buju Banton’s ongoing drug battle is a bad development. he thinks it is probable that the DJ may get 10 years to a maximum of life in prison if he doesn’t enter a plea deal with the United States govt. He will go before the courts September 20. Buju Banton has been behind bars since December 10 of last year, and has been charged with conspiracy with intent to distribute five kilos or more of cocaine and possession of firearm. Bujus' new album will hit the stores on September 13.

MISS KITTY IMPERSONATED IN DIGICEL SCAM
According to Kitty, whose real name is Khadine Hylton, scammers have been calling persons impersonating her and asking them to send money to them via Western Union.
Miss Kitty says it is not her job to be calling people. She says "I am not involved in the Jus Buss promotion, I am not suppose to be calling anyone and notifying them about their winning."
Digicel launched its 'Jus Buss' summer promotion on July 2 it ended August 26. Through the promotion, Digicel users had the chance to win up to $100,000 as well as a Samsung S5230 handset. Ms. Kitty said "I have a friend who called me from Western Union, who said there was a man there ready to send off $12,000," she said.
She added, "there are a lot of nasty people out there, and I'd appreciate if they would stop. If you have a doubt about summen, call customer care, call 100 and ask questions. Digicel is a credible telecom provider, there is no way they would ask you to send money to win money."
In the meantime, Miss Kitty has been busy working on her show, 'Ruption', on RJR and said that it has been doing well. She said she is looking for bigger and better things for the future and may look to perform in plays, among other things.
POLICE STILL SEEKING WIFE OF ONE ORDER MEMBER
THE Spanish Town police say they have yet been able to interview one of the 20 women who were named as persons of interest by them last week. She has been identified as Samantha Minott, wife of alleged high-ranking One Order member, Everton Minott also called 'Rado'.
"She has not turned herself in and have not been detained by us," one cop said.
The other 19 women who are either mothers or spouses of members of the One Order and Klansman gangs have all been interviewed and released.Police report that the women were questioned about their association with criminals, money laundering, harbouring and hiding known fugitives and hiding ill-gotten gains such as motor cars and real estate.
BIJOUX JEWELLERY STORE ROBBED NEXT DOOR POLICE STATION
GUNMEN this morning barged into the Bijoux jewellery store — located next door to the police station in New Kingston — where they held several employees and customers hostage before making off with an undetermined some of cash and valuables.
The owner of the establishment declined to speak with representatives from the media about the incident, but one male worker told the Observer that the thugs disguised themselves as customers.
"Is about three of them come in, the man them all a look pon jewellery and were smelling cologne before they started," said the employee, noting that he stepped outside the establishment minutes before the robbery started to unfold.
According to him, the men brandished their guns and ordered employees and workers into a small room at the rear of the premises, robbing them of their cell phones and money.
They then opened the showcases and stole several watches and other items before fleeing in a waiting motorcar.No one was injured, however.
The entire incident took about 20 minutes but the police, who are posted in a neighbouring building, had no knowledge of it.

RISTO BENJI BEATEN 4 STEALING A BIKE?
DJ Risto Benji who is also known as Michael Benjamin and two other men were in the New Kingston Shopping Centre area. He is said to have attempted to steal a Honda motorcycle that was parked there and was caught by the owner. The other two men ran while Benji was caught and beaten. It was said that some police officers came to his rescue luckily or they would probably have killed him. They also said he has been stealing bikes for a while now.
USAINS' BOOK 2 BE RELEASED THIS THURSDAY
Usain Bolt’s first autobiography entitled “9.58” will be released this Thursday in London, England. The book, which is published by HarperSport, tells of Bolt’s experience in at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing China where he broke the 100m and 200m world records and the immediate stardom it brought him.
The book also chronicles Bolt’s experience in Berlin Germany where he also lowered those world records to 9.58 in the 100m and 19.19 in the 200m. According to a release from the publishers the book will tell the story in Bolt’s own words of “a skinny kid from the parish of Trelawny, where they harvest the best yams in the world.”

Dancehall artiste Lady Saw's fans believed she was no longer with her companion of 17 years when she stated on Twitter that she is 'single and loving it'.
The artiste has been with her lover, producer Lloyd 'John John'James for almost two decades. But on Wednesday, the artiste, whose real name is Marion Hall, tweeted, "When you give a man second chances over and over again and he [expletive] again and again leave his sorry [expletive]."
