One of the contestants in the Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall might be sanctioned at tomorrow's show for breaching the directives issued by the Broadcasting Commission.

Since the airing of the show, an apology for the breach was issued by the show's producers and TVJ, which airs the programme. Mark Kenny, executive producer for the show, said one of the contestants breached the directives.

"Her lyrical content was in breach of the Broadcasting Commission's regulations. She broke the caution," he said, noting that the name of the contestant will be revealed on the show.

A consequence of breaking one of the directives issued by the Broadcasting Commission is disqualification but Kenny was reluctant to say whether or not this will be the case tomorrow night.

14 YEAR OLD PIMPS HER SCHOOL FRIENDS

A 14-year-old girl said to be the mastermind behind a scheme to lure underage girls into a man's home to perform sexual acts, has been arrested by police in Old Harbour, St Catherine.

The girl, along with another 14-year-old girl and a 25-year-old man, were reportedly taken into custody after a raid at a house in the community.

So far the 14-year-old confessed that she had brought classmates and others from her school to the man's home for them do all manner of sexual activities ... We have not yet confirmed just how much girls were taken to the house but our investigations are ongoing," the investigator said.

A source from the St Catherine North police told THE WEEKEND STAR yesterday that the scheme was uncovered on Wednesday, after the mother of one of the teens in custody spotted another teen with a bag belonging to her daughter who she had reported missing.
It is said that the mother had reported to the police that her daughter was missing from home for several days.
The source further said that the woman demanded that the teen take her to find her daughter after she accosted her while she reportedly boarded a minibus.
After the teen refused, the woman is reported to have taken her to the Old Harbour Police Station where she revealed to the lawmen that she lured a number of her schoolmates to the house of a man for him to engage in sexual acts with them

BUJU FACES MORE PROBLEMS W/HIS TRIAL

Buju Banton has been denied access to files requested from the state of Florida for his drug possession trial.
The Gargamel and his lawyers were refused access to the civil tax liability documents of the confidential source or the informant.
Prominent attorney at law David Rowe says the judge sided with the prosecution sighting that the trial is not about whether the informant has paid his taxes but whether or not Buju Banton was selling cocaine.
Buju Banton has been in U.S custody since December 10 last year.
Authorities said they videotaped Buju Banton trying to purchase cocaine in a Sarasota warehouse in December.

The incarcerated dancehall deejay is expected to stand trial date on drug possession charges on June 21.

MERLENE OTTEY AT 50 WILL BE RUNNING IN EAC BARCELONIA 2010

Age no bar for Ottey as she gets ready for Barcelona 2010

Merlene Ottey, the legendary sprinter who turned 50 on Monday, is preparing herself for the 20th European Athletics Championships to be held in Barcelona between 26 July and 1 August.

With Ottey's enthusiasm not waning at all in the last three decades, the Slovenian athlete who represented Jamaica for more than two decades is aiming for a better performance in Barcelona than four years ago in Göteborg when she reached the semi-finals of the women's 100m.

Her coach Srdjan Djordjevic has confirmed Ottey's intentions to run in Barcelona.

Although her last 100m race dates back to 2008, when she clocked 11.60, last winter she clocked 7.66 over 60 metres.

Differences between Ottey, who still lives and trains in California, and the Jamaican athletics federation after the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney encouraged the athlete to change her nationality.

Since then, she has been competing for Slovenia, a country she represented at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and 2006 European Athletics Championships.

GANGS RENTING/SELLING OUT CAPTURED HOUSES

A number of houses in the 'Two Miles' area of St Andrew have been taken over by thugs who are now offering them for rent and even sale.

Residents claim members of the 'Rat Bat' gang have taken control of a number of the houses which were left unoccupied when the occupants decided to flee the volatile community.

The men are said to be offering rooms for rent as low as $1,000 per month. Some houses are also said to be available for sale but the prices are negotiable, residents claim. The captured houses are either rented to persons close to the thugs or occupied by the thugs themselves.

Almost all the houses are also said to have illegal water and electricity connections.

One person who claims to be close to the gang also said persons have tried to recover their homes but were commanded to leave the area since they already fled.

TELL DEM KILLA...

This was in the Observer this morning I just had 2 post it....

JAMAICA 2 GET CASINOS

Another reason why YOU should visit Jamaica!

After a year long debate, the legislation has finally agreed to allow the government to create the Casino Gaming Commission to grant licences for businesses that want to attract old and new consumers with another source of entertainment.. GAMBLING!

Religious groups were against approving this for good reasons but gambling proves to be very beneficial to Jamaica's economic status.

Jamaica currently has a few hundred slot machines at hotels in Kingston and in tourist areas.

Prime Minister Bruce Golding stated that companies who are interested in a gambling license will need to invest a minimum of $1.5 billion and build a hotel with at least 2,000 rooms.

This initiative is sure to keep Jamaica's tourism industry on an ever evolving status.

Well we'll see how the Jamaican ppl respond 2 this...Casinos hav their advantages n disadvantages but Bruce a push it n since mi nuh trust him, mi nuh truss it but mi willing fi see how it work out cuz right now ntn nah gwaan fi Jamaican tourism, tourists dem seh dem fraid, crime rate 2 high

MAVADO JOINS FIGHT 4 PEACE

Singjay Mavado is stepping forward to "fight for peace" in garrison communities throughout Jamaica alongside Rev Al Miller and the Peace Management Initiative (PMI)

The singjay met with Rev Miller, who is the director of the National Transformation Programme (NTP), three weeks ago at Jamaica House to discuss peace initiatives between his Cassava Piece community and the neighbouring Big Yard community, which is located off Mannings Hill Road. Motivated by the success of the meetings in his own community of Cassava Piece, Mavado hopes to continue assisting Rev Miller in fighting for peace across Jamaica.

Mavado told THE STAR recently, "right yah now at dis time yuh done know peace is important, yuh nuh see di amount of tings happening, dem shoot the singer from Voicemail, Cobra, crazy artiste. Di violence in di streets, di amount of people dying, it a get a way, tings are more serious and dangerous."

Motivated by potential flare-up of violence in his community, Mavado turned to Rev Miller, who he described as a 'powerful' man, to discuss peace in Cassava Piece. After meeting with Mavado, Miller went into the Big Yard and Cassava Piece communities recently, speaking with the leaders and citizens. When contacted, Miller said the meetings went well on both sides saying, "he (Mavado) certainly want, to work with us to help to communicate wid the community and to work at the peace with the factions and wanting to see peace restored to the area."

According to Mavado, since the meetings with Miller in the communities, there has been peace as persons came out and discussed their views with the Reverend. "We haffi tek di ting serious and get every man fi work wid di peace. If 90 per cent work wid it, then di 10 per cent haffi find somewhere go," he said.
He added, "yuh nuh see Jamaica a mash up? Yuh cyaan go and come back, no matter how much millions yuh have, yuh haffi always rememba Jamaica. We can't wait for the whole of Jamaica to mash up, when we can stop it from now."

WIT ALL THE IMPORTANT NEWS I 4GOT 2 POST THESE, MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND

BRUCE THEY WANT U OUT OF THAT CABINET

PRIME Minister Bruce Golding faced stinging criticism and calls for his resignation throughout yesterday, in the wake of his confession that he had approved his ruling party's engagement of US law firm Manatt, Phelps and Phillips in the 'Dudus' extradition saga.
In the meantime, Information Minister Daryl Vaz last night slapped down rumours that an emergency Cabinet meeting had been called last night, presumably related to the affair.
The prime minister's admission that he sanctioned a scheme to circumvent the role of the Government of Jamaica to resolve a treaty dispute with the Government of the United States of America and normal diplomatic channels has brought the Government into disrepute," Simpson Miller said.
"Understanding the Government is obviously devoid of morals; we are not surprised that the prime minister did not end his presentation with a resignation but wishes to recommend to the prime minister that this step need to be taken with immediate effect," the PNPYO said.
For its part, the previously unknown Centre For Leadership declared: "We believe that the prime minister of Jamaica should resign with immediate effect. He no longer has the moral authority to govern or lead. The number one foundation in any leadership relationship is trust. Can we continue to trust him or the Government he leads? Let it all fall down and let us rebuild again for the youth and future of this nation."

The man that said " NOT IN MY CABINET " being kicked out of dat cabinet. He said he would step down before he agrees to the extraditon of dudus so lets' c if he will or not.

* MAD COBRAS' SHOOTING UPDATE*

Popular entertainer Cobra is now recuperating in hospital after being shot twice in Portmore, St Catherine, last night.

The deejay, whose real name is Ewart Everton Brown, was admitted to the Spanish Town hospital after receiving two gunshot wounds to his shoulders.
A close friend of the Portmore-based deejay said that he was shot when he stopped his car to speak to someone in a section of Braeton Phase One. Police reports further claim that the incident occurred about 7 p.m.

Cobra, according to the STAR source, drove himself from the shooting to the hospital.
Several artistes, entertainment personalities and politicians turned up at the hospital after news of the incident began spreading. Brown is the second dancehall artiste to be attacked in two days, as Oneil Edwards of the group Voicemail, was shot and injured at his home Monday morning. He is still in hospital and remains in critical condition.

There were also reports of gunfire in the Braeton community following the incident.

Checks with the St Catherine south police confirmed there were reports of gunfire in the Phase One section of the community.

The Portmore police are investigating the incident.

MUMZEL FROM SWIZZLE BODY COURT DATE RESCHEDULED

A jury retired for more than four hours and failed to arrive at a verdict in the case of 22-year-old Alecia Samuels, dancer, of Arnett Gardens, Kingston 12, who is charged with the murder of 20-year-old dancer Sheree McKnight of Tivoli Gardens, west Kingston.
Defence lawyer Peter Cham-pagnie asked Supreme Court judge Ingrid Mangatal to grant Samuels bail and the judge granted the request.
Samuels, who is also called 'Mumzel', is a member of the Swizzle Body Dance Crew. She is to return to the Home Circuit Court on June 21 when another trial date will be set.
The Crown led evidence at the trial, which began last week Wednesday and ended late Monday night, that on November 21, 2007, Samuels got into a fight with McKnight outside the Quad nightclub in New Kingston. It was alleged that they were fighting over a male dancer called 'Chicken and Beer'.
During the fight, Samuels was stabbed in the back. Evidence was given that Samuels went across the road and stabbed McKnight in the chest
. She was rushed to the University Hospital and died three days later.
Samuels said in her defence that she was attacked and she acted in self-defence. She said during the incident one of her friends was injured by the deceased.

Champagnie, in cross-examining the Crown witnesses who were from Tivoli Gardens, suggested to them that because they were motivated by politics they were lying as to how the incident took place, but they denied the suggestion.
