Vybz Kartel is not a freemason. No lodge in Jamaica would accept him as he does not meet the requirement for membership of being a person of good repute. Also, Kartel's claim that he is a freemason and the fact that he wears a freemason's ring is inconclusive as anyone can claim to be a freemason and a masonic ring can be bought by anyone (amazon.com has masonic rings for as low as $15). Furthermore, no freemason would intentinally portary freemasonry in a negative light as Kartel has done with him relating it to evil. All of the above reasons indicate to me that Kartel is using persons unwarranted fear of freemasonry to further his claim that he is evil. However, not all of us are so easily fooled...

I am happy to see that you are now considering the possibility that Vybz Kartel was not being truthful when he made the claim that he is a freemason. I am not a freemason but I hope to be one soon. You say you have done your research. Well I have done mine as well. I have looked at both sides of the debate on freemasonry and have reached the conclusion that what is often said about freemasonry is opinion disguised as fact. Such opinions often reinforce what you have heard about "freemasonry" or "masonry" or "lodge" or "lodge man" while growing up. I was also told how bad freemasonry was and believed it to be so, as it is what my parents and friends believe. However, after years of reading into it, i realised that what i was told is far from the truth.
So my point is, keep and open mind before you jump on the bandwagon and cause misguided beliefs to be reinforced on something that is inherently good. Take care.
