BAN NEWSTALK 93 FM AS OF TODAY!!!! MAKE IT HAPPEN....
So Ragashanti is no longer with Newstalk. They cut Raga off the air wen he was about to announce his leaving. I think he was fought against, treated unfairly from day one n many ppl like Fae Ellington, contributed to this decision but his fans are ready to start the protest. There is a fb page created entitled " No Raga no Newsstalk" n rightfully so. I will not be listening to any programs on Newstalk 93 fm in his honor. No commercials, not even news....n I do hope others join this " Newstalk ban". He will be on the internet soon n hopefully as rumoured he will be on air in the tristate area NY real soon.Cris cross n Ruth also quit

ReplyDeleteGood for Raga that he can go independent. As a Raga fan, i still dont see it necessary for anyone to disrespect Miss Ellington the way we are doing it. It sickens my stomach when I hear people talk about her as if she has cause Raga to resign. Come on guys, Raga RESIGNED, he wasnt fired.

ReplyDeleteTHE THING IS RAGA IS GONE NO MATTER WHO WAS GIVING HIM A FIGHT..MY PROBLEM WITH THIS IS THESE PEOPLE SEEMS TO HAVE SUCH A BIG PROBLEM WITH HIM AND HIS SHOW AS IF THERE'S IS THE ONLY VOICE THAT SHOULD BE HEARD..BUT IN OUR CULTURAL SPACE ALL THE DIFFERENT PARTIES HAVE A EQUAL RIGHTS TO BE HEARD AND RAGA IS ONLY THE VOICE OF THE MAJORITY THAT WAS BEING STIFLED ALL ALONG..
ReplyDeleteAfter ragashanti, there's nothing left but newsfart.
ReplyDeleteSept. 2 1010 Caribbean NewSource "As Newstalk 93 scrambles to replace the recently departed Ragashanti, the management for Twin of Twins are denying rumors that the "Twins" are being courted to step in as hosts on the radio network. In an interview from Florida. Twins' management has neither confirmed or denied the offer, but insists that the "Twin of Twins" brand of humor and political commentary is "a little too hot" for Jamaican radio. "While the Twins have been offered TV/RAdio shows to take their "Stir it Up" series mainstream, the Twins value their freedom of expression and the ability to "talk the things" without corporate oversight. Also as one of the few top Jamaican acts who still tour the U.S., the Twins are booked on shows all the way to July 4th 2011, and are too busy to commit to a full time radio or TV show." The Twins are currently working on an independent film for international release and have just signed a deal with Itunes to releases their entire catalog digitally.

ReplyDeleteTwins of twins lol,plz Newstalk a fret out baxide now cuz nobody can fill Raga shoes. There will be weeping n moaning n knashing of teeth, yessir frigger dem
What a judge,Raga dem cant stop yo puppa.
ReplyDeleteit's really unfair the way he was dismissed. however a change means betterment and he nor his supporters should not feel denied of the fact that Raga will elevate to greater things.
ReplyDeleteIf you guys know Howard Stern's story from rags to riches and being fired from MANY radio stations across the U.S. because of station managers not "understanding" is content, you will see that RAGA's brand of humor and "resistance from the elitists" will change in Raga's favor soon enough. The pulling the plug early on his last show works in his favor as it gives him more publicity, solidifies the loyalty and support of his MANY fans, and will make management understand in no uncertain terms just how powerful the "Regular Joe" listeners can affect ratings and ultimately revenues which are going to plummet in that time slot no matter who they find to fill it.
ReplyDeleteThere aren't too many choices around that can come close to Raga's natural ability to speak to the working class, and just like Stern eventually did, Raga will also win over the same so called "elitists" who constantly complained about his content, once he gets back on the air, and the U.S. audience gives their seal of approval.
Hey, even hard core reggae comes to mind as far as airplay on the radio in JA which slowly started happening after it gained popularity overseas! Jamaica's top ten per-centers need to take a step back from their colonial high tea breakfast and take a good dose of reality syrup. They are still stuck in that mindset more than the very ones who colonized them, and have even perfected it on their own people now.
He is really gonna make a million now....following DIRECTLY in Howard Sterns footsteps by bringing on the news late, and pissing off the station managers, as he is making them realize he CAN do anything he wants to do, and mostly he wants to break up this archaic radio attitude of everything having a definitive time slot. Its freaking radio....go with the flow of the immediate vibe of the studio and immediate feedback you are getting from your audience through phone calls, etc., just like a true Disc Jockey at a party adjusts his music based on the immediate feedback he gets from those on the dance floor...at the end of the day isn’t the whole reason for being there to please your audience and provide them the content that keeps them tuned in?
ReplyDeleteDid any listener EVER call in upset about the fact that the news was late??
Obviously the audience wants to hear HIM, and the only people pissed off about late news is the station managers...The only news that need to be read on-time is BREAKING NEWS, such as a bombing, a sudden shooting or Raga resigning!! No big dis to Fae, as i listened to you from i was a kid, but even as acting manager, you should just accept Raga's time slot for what it is, and leave the stiff nosed news time to another time slot...wasn't worth it...there are many other outlets to get that info at that time slot if necessary, who have much lower ratings than Raga's , because people much rather listen to his "mix up" than the news at that moment....think about that one!
.....From a radio guy with a little knowledge about ratings and content and survival in a challenged medium.
