THE gun count from the joint police/military operation in Tivoli Gardens, West Kingston, rose to 56 yesterday. The weapons include 29 handguns and 27 rifles.A total of 12,020 rounds of ammunition and 84 explosive devices had been recovered up to yesterday.

THE gruesome discovery by the security forces of shallow graves — one with the body of a person who was buried standing — and a suspected torture chamber was yesterday shared with journalists covering the ongoing search of Tivoli Gardens 

Jamaica Defence Force soldiers said they stumbled upon the graves during a search of an area in the community called Rasta City, located off McKenzie Drive.

The area is believed to be a location where thugs would dump and bury the bodies of persons killed in the community of Tivoli Gardens.

At least six shallow graves were observed by this reporter in a clearing surrounded by thick, overgrown vegetation which made the trek to the spot difficult.

“Look at this,” one soldier said, pointing to a hole with the remains of the person who was buried standing.

The soldiers speculated that the person was buried alive.

Beginning today, Coronation Market, situated in downtown Kingston, is open for business once more, and sellers are promising bargains on some of the best products in their stalls.

Sections of the market were extensively damaged by fire during the gun battle in West Kingston last week and activities at the facility have come to a lull since.

But the authorities have now decided that the market should reopen, and most of the vendors appear to be supporting that move.

DUDUS' SISTER SANDRA COKE WENT IN 2 AUTHORITIES W/ REV. AL MILLER TODAY

Sandra 'Sandy' Coke the sister of Christopher Dudus Coke has turned herself in to the police.

Sandra was on a list of 26 persons to whom the police had appealed to turn themselves in.
It is understood that Ms Coke approached a pastor this morning.
Another person on list, Danny Banton from west Kingston has also indicated his intention to report to the police

The police say they want to question persons who they believe are affiliated with criminal gangs in the Kingston metropolitan region.

The police are also seeking Orlando Ochoy O’Gilvie, Newton McLeod, Harold McLeod otherwise called "Harry Dog and David Heron otherwise called "Reagie" from the Tivoli and Denham Town communities.

Others included on the list of 26 persons are Danhai Williams, Kevin Bryan, and Michael Murray otherwise called "Bissi" from Kingston East.

The police have also listed Christopher Linton otherwise called "Dog Paw" from the Tavern camp in Central St Andrew and Ricardo Wynter otherwise called "Government" and Euriel James from the West Stinger’s gang in Maxfield.

Over in Spanish Town, they’re searching for Donald Brown otherwise called "Negus", Nyron Hawkins also called "Ice" and Rohan Silvera - a mastermind behind the ‘cash for gold’ racket in Spanish Town and its environs.

In Clarendon, Jerome Cunningham otherwise called "Rome" has also made the list.

Prime Minister Bruce Golding yesterday made his first visit to Tivoli Gardens in West Kingston since bloody clashes between security forces and gunmen supporting former strongman Christopher 'Dudus' Coke.

But the visit was marred by a ban on the media enforced by soldiers shortly before Golding arrived with a large entourage including Kingston mayor, Desmond McKenzie

Tivoli Gardens residents seeking to ID bodies

A large group of persons claiming to be related to civilians who were killed in Tivoli Gardens gathered in front of Madden's Funeral Home yesterday, concerned that they are yet to be allowed to identify the bodies family members.

"Something needs to be done this is the third time I come to identify my sister who was shot dead in Tivoli last week and can't get to see her," said one woman 

Proprietor Ferdinand Madden says that the sheer number of dead has overwhelmed the funeral home.
