IRIE JAMBOREE CANCELLED
The 2010 Irie Jamboree is dead - a victim of the recession, visa cancellation, incarceration and a police-imposed 8 p.m. curfew.
Organizers Robert (Bobby) Clarke, Louie Grant, Steven Williams and Michael Williams thought long and hard before they finally decided to skip this year's event. The cold facts," they said, are the incarceration of Buju Banton and Ninjaman and the denial of visas for many prominent performers as major roadblocks to putting on a successful show.
Artists who were denied visas to come to the U.S. included Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Busy Signal, Movado, Vybz Kartel, Jah Cure, Sizzla, and Luciano, according to the statement
