Vybz Kartel and Corey Todd will launch the ‘Gaza Talent Search’ at The Building nightclub beginning September 17th.
The show will be hosted by Boasy Boy Floyd, excerpts which will be aired on Hype TV.
"Each week a winner will be selected from each category and receive cash prizes courtesy of Street Vybz Rum. The weekly winners will then automatically qualify for a final at the end of the month, the winner of each category will then move on to a grand final in December where the overall winner will be signed to a recording contract with the Portmore Empire.The winner will receive $500,000, a video for their debut single provided it meets our standards, and a real chance to buss, this is not like other talent shows where it’s a remote possibility you might buss, the Gaza busses artistes,” Todd said in an interview.
Todd also use the opportunity to dispelled rumors of a bias at The Building Nightclub between Gully Gaza.
“All artistes and selectors are welcomed in the Building. People need to get their facts straight before they start tweeting and assuming foolishness, everyone’s music plays in The Building and if that wasn’t the case, Street Vybz Thursdays wouldn’t be the most successful weekly event in Jamaica,” he said.
Kartel I like this idea and I am happy 2 c u doing something positive 2 give back, rather than telling the youths 2 "pile up body like number pon simcard" so I am giving Ceaser wat due. Ppl might think I despise u but I only loathe wat u represent or lack there of. I do miss the old Kartel, early 2000 Kartel n I hope u revert 2 some of those qualities. However there is room 4 all 2 change, so u hav the master bedroom now Sir Palmer, show us wat u got. Blessingz on the new talent search....
