ATTEMPTS 2 RESCUE DUDUS BY BOAT

ATTEMPTS to rescue then fugitive Christopher 'Dudus' Coke by boat failed
on two separate occasions a week apart.

"The first time an attempt was made was on the Thursday (May 27) after
the soldiers and police went into Tivoli Gardens," a highly placed
official said on condition of anonymity.
The second attempt came a week later, but again, the plan was aborted
after a Jamaica Defence Force Coast Guard boat was seen by the intended
rescuers.

"He was supposed to go to The Bahamas, cool off for a short while and
then make his way to the US," said the source.
Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Glenmore Hinds, who has
responsibility for operations, said that Coke would have had a difficult
time leaving Jamaica by boat, as there was a plan in place to capture
him at sea if he tried.
"The Colombians were definitely in on this thing. They were the ones who
funded the trips and arranged the routes to be taken. Coke is deeply
connected to a group of Colombians who want to continue working with him
because he is good for their business," the individual said.
