THE MORNING AFTER

POLICE are trying to rescue five colleagues suffering from gunshot wounds who are stranded on the grounds of Excelsior High School along Mountain View Avenue in St Andrew.
However the rescue has been stalled by gunmen with whom police are currently engaged in a shootout.Police are asking motorists to avoid travelling on Mountain View Avenue.Mountain View Police Station was threatened with an attack earlier this week. There are unconfirmed reports of an attack on Spanish Town Police Station.
However, because of the violence in downtown Kingston, all students who experience difficulty getting to the following centres should go to the Overseas Examinations Commission, using the Manhattan Road entrance, which is across from the National Water Commission (NWC) entrance:
• Camperdown High
• Holy Trinity High
• Kingston College
• Kingston Technical High
• St. Andrew Technical High
• Vauxhall High
Candidates from Portmore who attend these schools are asked to go to any of the following schools in Portmore:
• Ascot High
• Bridgeport High
• Cumberland High
• Waterford High
All students of St George's College will write their examinations at Ardenne High School.

  1. Passers-by stood in amazement as residents from Big Yard and Cassava Piece, two long-standing rivals at the centre of a bloody feud, faced off in a busy parking lot off Mannings Hill Road.

But instead of trading bullets and harsh words which has been the norm between these warring factions, men, women and children bridged the long-standing divide with firm handshakes, hugs and a friendly smile.
Throngs of residents from both communities walked slowly towards each other, meeting on the imaginable half-way mark in the busy Super Value parking lot to broker the peace deal organised by the Rev Al Miller-led National Transformation Programme (NTP) and the Peace Management Initiative (PMI).
