BRUCE PUT IN HIS RESIGNATION N JLP REFUSE IT

The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) hierarchy has revealed that the Prime Minister Bruce Golding has offered to resign over the controversial Manatt, Phelps and Phillips issue.

But the JLP chairman Dr Ken Baugh says the party is not accepting Mr Golding’s offer to resign.

Dr Baugh made the revelation at a press conference in Ocho Rios, St Ann, this afternoon during a break from a JLP Central Executive meeting.

Since Friday, the Prime Minister has been engaged in a series of talks with various JLP groups as calls mount for his resignation.

At the press conference this afternoon the Dr Baugh revealed that throughout the consultations, the Prime Minister has maintained that he would step down.

According to Dr Baugh, although the Prime Minister does not want to resign, Mr Golding believes it is the appropriate thing to do.

But Dr Baugh says the JLP will not accept Golding’s offer to resign because it does not believe the Prime Minister has done anything wrong in the Manatt matter.

STORY 2........

Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) General Secretary Karl Samuda said Golding's actions in the Manatt Phelps and Phillips affair do not “rise to the level that warrants a resignation”.
Samuda said the prime minister has not lied to the country. He said he, Samuda, knew all along that the prime minister had been the one to sanction the Manatt deal, but had not revealed this in the report he gave to Jamaicans weeks ago. He refused to say why.
“If we were in the position to do it again, we would adopt a different strategy,” Samuda said, addressing reporters in Ocho Rios today.
He said Government was challenging people to bring evidence that the Government and not the JLP hired the law firm to lobby the United States on the extradition matter involving Tivoli Gardens don Christopher 'Dudus' Coke.

CHRISTOPHER MARTIN SONG 4 VOICEMAIL' S ONEIL

Christopher Martin has re-recorded parts of his song Watch Me Lord in tribute to Voicemail's Oneil Edwards.
Martin said he was contacted on Monday by radio disc jock Kurt Riley to do a dubplate with the song, which is more than a year old. This was soon after news broke that Edwards was shot multiple times by gunmen as he entered his home in Duhaney Park, St Andrew. He explained that Riley wanted the dubplate to play on his afternoon show later that day.

"He (Edwards) is a very good friend of mine. That's the least I could do. It was kinda like a dubplate. After that a lot of disc jocks started asking about it," he said, noting that he got requests for it from radio disc jocks all across theisland and as far as Africa.

After being unconscious for days, Edwards was taken off the ventilator on Thursday and allowed to breathe on his own, but was later put back on the machine. This was the first time since the shooting incident, which occurred early Monday morning.

On Wednesday, one of the suspects in Edwards' shooting was found dead in Chancery Hall Estate, St Andrew, while the other suspect was picked up in Manchester and taken into police custody in Kingston.

BRUCE U A JOKER

Orette Bruce Golding is fighting for his political life.
Bruce wats the deal?

Golding, 62, is at an age where Jamaican prime ministers are like roses in the garden, just getting ready to bloom
Now facing the challenge of his life, Golding is also confronted by the now popular Jamaican saying of 'cock mouth kill cock'.

His utterances in regard to the Manatt, Phelps & Phillips issue, in which he revealed to Parliament last Tuesday his knowledge of a move to retain the US law firm to assist the JLP with extradition case of Christopher 'Dudus' Coke, the reputed Tivoli Gardens don. Originally denying knowing anything about it, again threw the spotlight on him.

Golding, in his defence, said that he was connected to the matter in his capacity as JLP leader and not as prime minister. He had forgotten that in 2006 at the height of the decision by the Dutch firm Trafigura to give US$30,000 to the PNP to assist with its campaign for the 2007 general election, he had vigorously dispatched a suggestion that the PNP point man in that matter, Colin Campbell, then a Cabinet minister, was acting on behalf of the party and not the Government.
