CHINESE BIDDING 4 KCT ( Kgn Container Terminal )**UPDATE**

According to Stephenson, "We have noted an article on the front page of yesterday's Observer , captioned 'Chinese want Kingston Wharves', and would like to point out that Kingston Wharves Limited (commonly referred to as Kingston Wharves) is a listed company on the Jamaica Stock Exchange that is not in any way associated with Kingston Container Terminal, which is the true subject of the article."
It is a common error for media houses in Jamaica to use photographs of KCT to illustrate stories about KWL, and to refer to Kingston Wharves as a generic term for KCT.The KWL chairman said this was unfortunately a repeated error by the Observer , "the last being in August 2009 when that newspaper had to make a similar correction. Being a public company, when these errors occur, it causes great concern among our stakeholders, resulting in wasted resources and time to have the error corrected."
Stephenson demanded a correction of the error and has offered to assist the media with guidance to prevent a recurrence.

His response came as a result of ongoing confusion in the media with regards to Kingston Wharves, a multi-purpose, listed port company located at Port Bustamante, and its western neighbour, the Kingston Container Terminal (KCT), which is a government-owned terminal specialising in the transshipment of containers.

It has come 2 my attention that the Terminal has 2 sections Kingston wharf n Kingston Container Terminal. Wen travelling 2 Portmore those big cranes u c that side is KCT

MS JAMAICA UNIVERSE ORGANISERS DENIES YENDI'S WIN WAS FIXED

Andrew Collins, head of Invyte Productions, the organisers of Miss Jamaica Universe 2010, has dismissed as "rubbish", claims that Yendi Phillipps, the newly crowned queen, was paid to enter the competition and promised the win.

Following last Saturday's coronation show, in which Phillipps was announced as the new Miss Jamaica Universe, the Internet has been buzzing with reports that the pageant was fixed and that the organisers had guaranteed Phillipps the crown.
One page on the popular networking site, Facebook, saw many of Phillipps' heated fans and detractors squaring off and trading insults over the topic. Many argued that the pageant was not fairly judged and that Phillipps should not have been allowed to enter, while others heaped congratulations on the new queen.

Police have identified at least two suspects in connection with the June 30 robbery of a St Catherine farmhouse belonging to Cabinet minister Karl Samuda.
Sources at the St Catherine North police say the identities of the men are being withheld as they are not yet arrested. They are however, following very strong leads and an identification parade will be done as soon as they are nabbed.

The armed men reportedly searched the premises and found a shotgun with 100 rounds of ammunition reportedly belonging to Samuda. A quantity of US currency was also reportedly stolen.

VYBZ KARTEL STILL IN POLICE CUSTODY

Five days after he turned himself over to the police for questioning, after they had named him as one six “major persons of interest” in the South St. Catherine area, popular dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel remains behind bars in police custody at this time. He had a final round of questioning yesterday and was supposed 2 be processed and released, hoever he was not.

The police are yet to publicly indicate why exactly they wanted to question him, and prior to turning himself in, Kartel publicly questioned the motive of the police (given the current State of Emergency that was imposed in Kingston, St. Andrew and St. Catherine) and has denied any wrong doing that would give the police reason to have an interest in him.

PRESIDENT OBAMA SAYZ " JAMAICA I APPROVE"

United States President Barack Obama says that his country supports Jamaica's efforts to ensure public safety and to combat drug trafficking and other criminal activities.

President Obama also praised Jamaica for playing a key role in developing the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI), a major regional security partnership between the US and the Caribbean, which was launched in Barbados in early June.

"As a member of the Caribbean-US Joint Working Group, Jamaica played a key role in developing this initiative," Mr Obama said in his speech welcoming newly appointed Ambassador of Jamaica to the United States, Audrey Marks, at the White House last Monday.
"As the Jamaican Government seeks to uphold the rule of law, the United States supports its efforts to ensure public safety and to combat drug trafficking and other criminal activity," he stated.
He said that with the launch of the Initiative, the United States recognises that its security interests are "deeply intertwined" with those of the Caribbean nations.

"Along with other partners in the Caribbean, we pledge to work together to reduce illicit trafficking in the Caribbean, to advance public safety and security and to promote social justice by addressing the important issues of crime prevention, justice sector reform and corruption," the US President said.

The CBSI is an effort by the US Government and its Caribbean partners to develop a joint regional citizen safety strategy, to tackle the full range of security and criminal threats to the Caribbean Basin.

PRESIDENT OBAMA U SAY URE IMPRESSED W/JAMAICA TRYING 2 INSTILL SAFETY 4 ITS CITIZENS. US N JAMAICA HAS GOTTEN REAL CLOSE AS OF LATELY. FACT IS AMERICA IS A GIGOLO,THEY DON'T SHOW INTEREST IN ANY COUNTRY UNLESS THEY WANT SOMETHING. SO THE QUESTION IS, PREZZY WAT UNU REALLY WANT FROM JAMAICA?

GAYS N THE BIBLE...CAN U BE GAY N STILL MAKE IT THRU THE PEARLY GATES?

SOMETHINGS' FISHY

MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Fish vendors in the Mandeville market say news that they are using embalming chemicals to keep their fish fresh has wiped out their livelihood and dented the fish industry in this parish capital. They say fish sales have plummeted and are demanding an apology from the parish council which they say has tainted their reputation.

News last week that the government chemist had found levels of the chemical formaldehyde in samples of fish taken from the market, sent shock waves across the parish and led shoppers to turn their backs on fish sold there. The samples were taken after complaints surfaced in March that a shopper had fallen ill after eating fish purchased there.

VILLAGE VOICE SAYZ ARTISTS VISAS SEIZED BCUZ OF LINKS 2 DUDUS

A popular US newspaper has linked the names of deejays with former Tivoli strongman Christopher 'Dudus' Coke but offered no evidence for its claim, which International Reggae Day founder Andrea Davis called unfortunate for the industry.
The lengthy article, entitled 'The Great Dancehall Freeze-Out of 2010', published June 29 in the liberal, New York-based Village Voice claimed that "some cite perceived ties to Coke, whose entertainment company stages Kingston's annual Champions in Action concert" as the reason for "those artists now remain(ing) sidelined from US travel".
The deejays referred to in the article are Aidonia, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, and Mavado whose US visas were revoked in April. The Observer was unable, up to press time, to contact the artistes or their management for comment. The US Embassy has not revealed why it revoked the visas of these artistes citing issues of confidentiality. The writer, Jesse Serwer, did not substantiate the claim or quote sources despite the article's intent to explain why "many of Jamaica's biggest acts [are] now barred from entering the US?"

BRUCE CALLS THE KETTLE BLACK

PRIME Minister Bruce Golding has warned the historic Portmore Municipal Council (PMC) that he will dissolve the body responsible for Jamaica's first directly elected mayor if it continues to break the law.

The prime minister is insisting that persons chairing committees do not have the right to exercise original or casting votes, but that the Council had been allowing the practice, contrary to the law.
Golding was seemingly angered by a meeting of the Finance Committee on February 9, 2010, at which the Council allowed the committee chairman to vote in favour of granting a 50 per cent building fee waiver to a resident
