BOUNTY KILLA GETS BAIL
Bounty Killer was this morning granted bail when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's court. He was granted $500,000 bail and was ordered to return to court on November 9.
He is charged for the assault and unlawful wounding of Racquel Smith. Smith turned up at the Constant Spring Police station two weeks ago and complained that he beat her with a hammer, a mosquito repellant and a chain. Police reported that she was badly bruised and bloodied when she lodged the complaint.
This morning Smith indicated through her lawyer Terrence Ballentine, to the court that she wanted the matter to be sent to mediation.
Ballentine said his client and Pryce had been together for three years and he had never hit her until the incident earlier this month. He said Smith wanted to continue her relationship with the Deejay.
However, Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey would have none of it and dismissed the request.
Pryce also had another matter in which he is charged for possession of ganja put off until November 8.

BUJUS' UPDATE, VERDICT DAY PART 3
A jury foreman minutes ago told United States judge Jim Moody that they have not been able to reach a verdict in the case involving Buju Banton.
The foreman said the 12-member jury was split evenly.
He told the court "I don't know if we will get to a final decision. We don't feel that we will progress, so could you provide further instructions? Since Thursday we have been reviewing evidence, nobody has changed their minds from their original positions,"
Moody then instructed the jurors to take their time in coming to a final decision."Be as leisurely as the occasion may require," Moody said. The judge gave further instructions that none of the jurors should surrender their conscience decision. Banton's attorney David Markus then filed a motion for a mistrial but Moody rejected the motion.

DAVID SMITH (OLINT) PLED GUILTY
DAVID Smith was today sentenced to six-and-a-half-years in prison after he pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to money laundering and two counts of conspiracy to the fraud in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Oliver Smith (no relation), lawyer for the head of the failed Olint investment scheme, told the Observer a few minutes ago that his client’s decision to plead guilty was driven by his wife’s exposure.
According to the lawyer, David Smith’s guilty plea means that the three charges against his wife Tracy have been dropped and her right to travel has been reinstated.

BUJU UPDATE *NO VERDICT*
The 13-member panel of jurors were still undecided on the fate of Reggae singer Buju Banton after more than four hours of deliberation this afternoon.
They will reconvene tomorrow morning at 9:30
Banton has been languishing in the Pinellas County jail since December 10 last year when Federal agents removed him from his home in Tamarac, Florida.

BUJU TAKES THE STAND
Markus announced that Banton would be taking the witness box because the "truth was on his side".
Buju Banton yesterday took the witness stand in his cocaine trial, denying that he was a trafficker or a financier of any illicit drug activities. But the artiste admitted two things: that he was naïve, and that he was only "talking crap" when he was recorded telling Government informant Alexander Johnson that he was a drug financier, who was in search of new drug ventures
"Like my mom always say, 'Mark, you talk a lot,' and that is the consequence of it," said the 37-year-old entertainer, whose given name is Mark Myrie, during cross-examination from prosecutor Jim Preston.
Buju said he was ashamed of himself for the things he had said, but told the attentive jurors that "talking crap" did not make him a dealer
"Are you guilty of being a cocaine trafficker?" Markus wasted no time in asking.
"No, Sir, I'm not," Banton promptly responded as he went on to deny the charges against him.
"How do you feel?" Markus asked.
"I'm scared," Banton said, managing an awkward smile. "I'm nervous. I've been waiting 10 months."
.
*******UPDATE***********
A 13-member panel of jurors are now deliberating whether to find Reggae artiste Buju Banton, whose real name is Mark Myrie, guilty or innocent of conspiracy with intent to distribute five kilogrammes of cocaine.
A female African-American juror fell ill and will not take part in this afternoon's deliberation.

DEFENSE WITNESS PLED THE 5TH, SHOCKING BUJUS' LAWYER
The defense in the Buju Banton trial suffered a minor setback this morning when a possible witness pleaded the Fifth Amendment, deciding not to testify on behalf of the Jamaican singer.
The defense had requested that James Mack, Buju's former co-accused, give evidence for him, but Mack, fearful that he might jeopardise his chances of getting a lighter sentence, opted not to.
American law allows a witness to refuse to testify under oath on the ground that the answers could be used as evidence by prosecutors seeking to convict the witness for a criminal offence
Mack was arrested in December 2009 the same day that Buju, whose given name is Mark Myrie, was arrested and slapped with cocaine charges. He recently copped a plea deal for a lighter sentence. Also arrested along with Mack in a sting operation was Ian Thomas, who also copped a plea deal. Both men will be sentenced in November.
Markus said..."He would have helped."

BOUNTY KILLA REFUSED BAIL
Bounty Killer was remanded in custody when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court this morning. Bounty Killer aka Rodney Pryce is charged with wounding. Police said a woman turned up at the Constant Spring Police Station badly bruised. The woman claimed Pryce had beaten her with a hammer.
This morning the court was told that Pryce had beaten the woman with a hammer in both knees.
He is also accused of using a zapper — an electric mosquito repellant — to hit the woman on her wrists.
Pryce is expected to return to court on September 27.
In both knees?...Wat were u playing doctor n checking her reflexes?

*BUJU UPDATE*...THE TAPES
Yesterday, as the tapes were being played, one woman could be seen clutching her head and covering her ears. Others sat attentively, captivated by the conversations between the four-time Grammy nominee and Johnson, a convicted drug trafficker who has been working with the US Government since 1996 to sink other narco dealers.
Also played for the court was the video recording of December 8, 2009 in which Banton was seen tasting cocaine from a knife given to him by his long-time friend Ian Thomas after he used it to cut open a package containing five kilogrammes of cocaine during an undercover operation by the Sarasota Police Department at a warehouse.Thomas was heard on the video saying that the cocaine was fish scale. Johnson later told the court that the term meant that the drug was of a high quality.
The prosecution then played the expletive-laced recordings, which were made between July and December and in which the 37-year-old Banton was heard telling Johnson, "I am about making money, straight up".
Banton was also heard asking Johnson if he had any contacts to acquire cocaine as he was willing to finance a deal. He also told Johnson that he did not have contacts in Venezuela and Panama, but that he was involved in smuggling diamonds from Africa to Europe.
He was also heard telling Johnson that: "It would be good to have our own contacts," and that he would like to start small, as "I don't want to take any risks".
"There are a lot of snitches in the game," Banton warned Johnson at one point, saying that it was hard for him to find anyone to trust.
In one conversation Banton was heard cursing and complaining to Johnson that the gay community, particularly the gay rights group GLAD (Gays and Lesbians Advocates and Defenders), was trying to ruin his career. Banton had been at odds with the gay community since the 1990s following the release of his anti-gay monster hit Boom Bye Bye. He was also heard complaining of being stressed out and said that he had 15 kids whose school fees needed to be paid.
LIVITY DENIED BAIL
Leighton 'Livity' Coke, brother of Christopher 'Dudus' Coke, was yesterday denied bail when he appeared in the Gun Court.
The prosecution opposed bail on the grounds that things were now under control in west Kingston and fear was being expressed that, if Coke got bail, there could be an escalation of crime in the area.Supreme Court judge Paulette Williams turned down the bail application. Coke is to return to court on October 7 for case management conference.Coke is facing charges of shooting with intent and illegal possession of a firearm.
It is alleged that Livity fired shots at the police in May, during the unrest in west Kingston when his brother was being sought by the police in connection with a warrant for his extradition.

BUJU HAD HIS DAY IN COURT
DEA Daniel McCeaffrey, who gave evidence on the first day of the trial at the Gibbons US Federal Court in downtown Tampa, said there was no evidence that Buju Banton — whose real name is Mark Myrie — received any money from any drug deal.
He also said even though he was investigating Banton for a year, he could find no evidence that the artiste had collected any money from drug dealing.David Markus, Buju's attorney, said that artiste would waive his right not to testify. He said his client's big mistake was that he loved to talk. Markus said Myrie met DEA informant Alexander Johnson, a Colombian national, on a flight from Madrid Spain to Florida last year and during conversation Johnson introduced the subject of drug dealing to him.He said Myrie had in fact tasted cocaine but that did not qualify him as a drug dealer.
Markus also argued that Myrie did not know about the US$130,000 that his co-defendant James Mack had been held with. The money he said was given to Mack by two men identified as 'Ike' and 'Tike' from Atlanta, Georgia. The attorney said Mack and Ian Thomas were the ones who were dealing drugs and said his client made a decision not to partake in any deal and went to his Tamarac home in Florida, where he was arrested in December last year. Mack and Thomas have taken plea deals and have agreed to testify against the artiste.

HOT OFF THE PRESS, YESSIR MR PRYCE
THE St Andrew North Police last night confirmed the arrest of dancehall entertainer Rodney Pryce aka Bounty Killer.
Deputy Superintendent Altermoth Campbell, anti-crime boss at the Constant Spring Police Station, said the entertainer was picked up after a female companion turned up at the station bleeding and reported that he had assaulted her.
The incident occurred at his Oakland Apartments residence in St Andrew, police said.
"She turned up here sometime after six and said that he used a hammer to beat her up," Campbell said, adding that the woman was badly bruised and scarred when she reported the incident.
He said that Pryce has been arrested and charged with wounding, and that he is in custody. He said Pryce should go before the courts sometime this week. In April this year, Pryce spent two weeks behind bars after being arrested by the Constant Spring police for beating up his girlfriend. At the time, police reported that while Pryce was being processed he called the woman and threatened her life in their presence. The complainant, Kadeem Baker, eventually dropped the charges against Pryce.

Support him with your concerns and suggestions instead of a cup waiting 4 him 2 pour u hennessy. How ironic the word Alliance means change (according 2 Killa dictionary) but Bounty refuses 2 do just that.

TRIPLE world and Olympic champion sprint champion Usain Bolt said he will return to training on October 4 after a season which was truncated by injury.
"As the track season winds down I look back on 2010 as not my best year, but it was a good year for many other athletes," Bolt said.
"From the start of the year I stated that with no major championships I was going to take it easier, but unfortunately, injuries caused me more disruption than planned. I had to miss the Diamond League meetings in Zurich and Brussels but have been watching my friends doing well," he added.

SHELLY-ANN FRASER ESCAPES 2YR DRUG BAN
Jamaican Olympic and World Champion Shelly-Ann Fraser has escaped a mandatory two-year ban after the International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) agreed with the Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association's (JAAA) authorities that circumstances around her case were exceptional and did not merit such a punishment.
The 23-year-old, tested positive for a non- performance enhancement prohibitive substance, Oxycodone, at a Diamond League meet in Shanghai, China.
The JAAA tribunal will now meet to determine what sanctions are to be handed down to Fraser. Fraser in May, gave her account of the events which led to her positive test at a three-member JAAA disciplinary panel hearing headed by former chief justice, Lensley Wolfe.
Fraser, in media reports prior to the hearing, said she took a painkiller for a tooth condition prior to the meet. However, as per procedure, she failed to report it on the meet's drug testing form. The painkiller, according to reports, was Oxycodone.
While not a performance-enhancing drug or masking agent, as per IAAF rules, the drug is on the World Anti-Doping Agency list of drugs which must be declared by an athlete prior to competition.
In the meanwhile Bobby Gaye Wilkins received a two year ban for a banned substance.

MATTERHORN SPEAKS ON FRESH FRIDAYZ FEUD
Last week rumors broke that the postponement of a popular weekly Jamaican party “Fresh Fridaze” was due to a lingering Gully Gaza bias among Disc-Jockeys who spin records there. Rumors have it that the owner of the building where “Fresh Fridaze” are held is affiliated with one side of the feud and does not want Disc-jockeys who are affiliated with the other side to work there. The Disc-jockeys made mention are Tony Matterhorn, Chris Diamond and Boom Boom.
MATTERHORN SAID: “Mi is not a Alliance selector or no Gaza selector. Matterhorn bigger than Gully, Gaza and Alliance, mi deh yah before anyone of those establishments. A 22 years ago Matterhorn buss. Yuh eva hear Matterhorn a war wid nobody yet? Over the years, the only thing yuh hear is Matterhorn versus Firelinks or Trooper, musically.”
How dem say Gully vs.Gaza did done, I guess Gullaza is out the window *shrug shoulderz*

GAZA TALENT SEARCH,TELL A FREN 2 TELL A FREN
Vybz Kartel and Corey Todd will launch the ‘Gaza Talent Search’ at The Building nightclub beginning September 17th.
The show will be hosted by Boasy Boy Floyd, excerpts which will be aired on Hype TV.
"Each week a winner will be selected from each category and receive cash prizes courtesy of Street Vybz Rum. The weekly winners will then automatically qualify for a final at the end of the month, the winner of each category will then move on to a grand final in December where the overall winner will be signed to a recording contract with the Portmore Empire. The winner will receive $500,000, a video for their debut single provided it meets our standards, and a real chance to buss, this is not like other talent shows where it’s a remote possibility you might buss, the Gaza busses artistes,” Todd said in an interview.
Todd also use the opportunity to dispelled rumors of a bias at The Building Nightclub between Gully Gaza.
“All artistes and selectors are welcomed in the Building. People need to get their facts straight before they start tweeting and assuming foolishness, everyone’s music plays in The Building and if that wasn’t the case, Street Vybz Thursdays wouldn’t be the most successful weekly event in Jamaica,” he said.
Kartel I like this idea and I am happy 2 c u doing something positive 2 give back, rather than telling the youths 2 "pile up body like number pon simcard" so I am giving Ceaser wat due. Ppl might think I despise u but I only loathe wat u represent or lack there of. I do miss the old Kartel, early 2000 Kartel n I hope u revert 2 some of those qualities. However there is room 4 all 2 change, so u hav the master bedroom now Sir Palmer, show us wat u got. Blessingz on the new talent search....

6 OF THE MANY REASONS MEN CHEAT
Like it or not men cheat. The percentage of men unfaithful to their wives is many folds than wives cheating on husbands. Whatever the case is men are less forgiving of their wife cheating than wives are about their cheating husbands. Overall, only about a third of marriages survive affairs as it is hard to forgive, redevelop trust and make the marriage more intimate and satisfying. Reasons for cheating in Men are more physical whereas for woman it is more on the emotional side. Many women mistakenly believe the mistress must be more attractive than she which is not true in majority of cases. Men may cheat because of the following reasons:-
Sex: Sex is the most important reason to why men cheat on their spouses. It is possible for a man to have sex with a woman without having any emotional attachment to her whereas it is not very easy for a woman to do so. It is also said that men only need a place to have an affair whereas a woman needs a reason. Even if the man have a loving spouse who takes take of his every need physically a man may cheat on his wife if he gets an opportunity to do so. Moreover, the thought of sex can get majority of men excited so they may not leave the chance of getting another women to bed.
Unhappy in relationship : An unhappy relationship may prompt many men to go for an affair. Many times men go behind other woman when they do not get all what they expect from their wives than putting on any effort to salvage the marriage. Rather than analyzing what went wrong in the relationship and making a commitment to work on it majority of men prefer to go for temporary quick fixes. Many times lack of communication in marriage leads a man to run into the arms of another woman than try solving the problem.
Ego : Men have very fragile egos. When men are complimented by women other than their wives it is only natural for men to expect having a fling with the lady. Many Men cheat on their spouses to prove to themselves that they are still attractive to the opposite sex.
Seeking Variety with No Commitment : Majority of men like variety when it comes to woman. The more the merrier is the outlook of majority of men who cheat on their spouses. If they find woman with whom they need not commit they jump into such relationships looking for some ‘fun’. No matter how good or faithful the spouse is many men tend to think that having one woman is not enough.
To Fill the Void : Sometimes men may want more than what his spouse offers him on bed like kinkier sex, group sex, talking dirty or submissive sex for which he seeks another partner or partners to fulfill his needs more willingly than communicating to his wife. Men tend to be motivated by sex including new sex, forbidden sex, more sex and different sex.
Family Background: The child of an adulterer is most likely to follow the footstep of his parent.
Majority of men are selfish and they try to get what they want and it does not matter who they hurt while doing so. One thing Men must understand is that they are going to get caught at one point or the other. May be it may be the scent of another perfume, some fallen hairs, lipstick marks or different behavior than normal because women are smart, no offence meant. Many men have lost their money, property, health and wealth by opting for relationships outside marriage. But that still does not prevent them from doing it again. After all, Men are men!

BOB MARLEYS' FAMILY LOSES COURT CASE
The family of reggae legend Bob Marley today lost their court battle to own the copyrights of five of his best-known albums and recover millions of US dollars in damages.United States District Judge Denise Cote in Manhattan said the UMG Recordings unit of Vivendi SA’s Universal Music Group is the rightful owner of copyrights to five albums that Marley had recorded between 1973 and 1977 for Island Records.
The albums ‘Catch A Fire’, ‘Burnin’’, ‘Natty Dread’, ‘Rastaman Vibrations’ and ‘Exodus’ were recorded with Marley’s band The Wailers. They include some of Marley’s best-known songs, including ‘Get Up’, ‘Stand Up’, ‘I Shot the Sheriff’, ‘No Woman’, ‘No Cry’ and ‘One Love’.
Friday’s ruling is a defeat for Marley’s widow Rita and nine children who had sought to recover millions of dollars in damages over UMG’s effort to “exploit” what they called “the quintessential Bob Marley sound recordings”.

CROSS DOUBLE CROSS, POOR BUJU
A co-defendant of Jamaican reggae singer Buju Banton has agreed to cooperate with the government as part of a plea deal in his drug case.
Banton, a four-time Grammy nominee, is set to stand trial Sept. 20 along with another codefendant, James Mack, on charges they participated in a cocaine deal in Sarasota.
The third codefendant, Ian Thomas, will plead guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 5 kilos or more of cocaine, according to an agreement filed today. The charge carries up to life in federal prison.
Eight days after the scheduled start of the trial, Banton's record company is set to release his ninth studio album, "Before the Dawn," in the United States. The album was recorded in Kingston, Jamaica, before his arrest in December.
"The album's unofficial anthem, 'Innocent' strikes a highly personal chord that will resonate deeply with longtime fans," according to a press release from Gargamel Music Inc.
Banton, 37, has been held without bail since his arrest on charges of conspiring to distribute cocaine and aiding and abetting his codefendants in possessing a firearm during the course of the cocaine distribution.

ANYTHING U SAY FLIPPA
FLIPPA MAFIA SAYZ HE IS NO SNITCH.....OK (Yankee voice)JUST A TADDLE TAIL THEN?
Flippa Mafia, who's real name is Andrew Davis, discussed the reasons behind his arrest, months spent in prison, his release and future. Arrested in March, after he was allegedly caught trying to enter the United States illegally from The Bahamas via a boat, Mafia was released last week Tuesday from the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility in Philadelphia.
Since his release, rumours have been circulating that he 'informed' to be free. Flippa said, "mi nuh have nutten a hide cause all dese people that are speculating dem don't know nutten. Is not like mi owe people nutten or haffi explain nutten but mi tyaad of di speculations and rumours and mi waan mek di fans know wha happen."
Flippa says he is involved in a criminal case in the United States that took place in 2006, in which he has to make appearances in court. In late 2009 at the peak of his career, Flippa was in Jamaica pursuing music and performing at various events. While in Jamaica, however, he was waiting for the renewal of his travel documents that was supposed to have been shipped here but up until March had not arrived.
He said: "Mi travel documents expire, mi come to Jamaica cause of music. Di case suppose to start April, January come, mi nuh get through wid di papers, February come, mi nuh get through. Then inna February, people start talk up how Flippa deh a Jamaica so long, and all dese things and mi mek wah people a sey get to me and mi mek a stupid decision based on wha people a sey."
In an effort to save himself any embarrassment and to make sure he got back in the United States for the case, the artiste admitted having gone to The Bahamas in an effort to re-enter the United States.
He added: "Mi do wha mi do and mi regret it, not like mi proud of wha mi do, is the same embarrassment weh mi a guh true right now mi did a try avoid from den. All a dat done and gone. Now a lot of people a ask and sey how me come out, me a mus informa, mi cyaan stop people from thinking wah dem waan and wah dem sey but mi have a case and is not like dem a go send me home just so."
After his release last week, Flippa says he went straight home to his family and children. His travel documents, he says, are currently on hold until the 2006 case is closed. His next court date is set for November.
For Flippa, he says, even if he is sent home he will not be a 'regular deportee' but a 'returning resident.' "Mi have mi place here mi nah beg nobody nutten, mi have mi ride, mi alright if mi come home. Deportee a people weh nuh have nutten, mi a returning resident as mi sey is foundation over hype and nobody can't stop mi from floss, is a lifestyle for me," he said.
Since the incident, the deejay says he has learnt a lot, got more mature and will resume his recording career. Flippa says he is not going to let what happened affect his career, "people can expect di typical Flippa, nutten nuh change. Mi just go through a likkle phase and is a eye-opener and mi hope mi nuh haffi go through none of dem ting deh again. DUDUS BACK IN COURT...WAT A DAY OF REDEMPTION THIS WILL BE
Steve Zissou, one of attorneys representing Dudus said, the defence team will be ready for Coke's day in court on September 7, although more material evidence is to be turned over to the defence. Zissou said that "there is likely to be dispute over some of the material".He said that so far, there is nothing in the evidence provided — especially audio recordings — "that have any bearing on the allegations against Mr Coke".This seems to have bolstered the defence's belief that they will be able to clear Coke."We will prevail at trial," Zissou said.
There are statements of nine unnamed co-conspirators, identified in the court documents as cooperating witnesses one to nine (‘CW-1′ to ‘CW-9′).
Alleged co-conspirator, CW-1, claims in his affidavit that he is a Jamaican living on carpenter ave in Bronx New York, who has already pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute marijuana and conspiracy to engage in firearms trafficking. He claims that from about 2004 he was involved in distributing marijuana in New York and worked with Dudus for much of that time, he would provide weed to a friend of Dudus, who would sell it and send the profit to the Tivoli Gardens strongman. The informant also claims that he purchased four firearms and shipped them to Coke in 2007.He said some of his calls to Dudus were recorded by federal agents, including an October 2007 discussion when Coke said he heard that an indictment would be issued for them.
CW-2 said while he has never talked directly with Coke, he worked with a supplier who told him that the cocaine they were distributing was from Coke and trafficked into the US by female smugglers. He also claimed that the supplier told him that he sent money and guns back to Coke in Tivoli Gardens.
Wat a symphony this will be, from tenor to bass, nightingales from every side of the choir to form a perfect harmony. Bruce call the pharmacy n refill u heart medication, ure in for a ruff ride. For once u r not the driver...Dudus a go drive u right over a cliff. And all the Champion in Action DJs who lose dem visa over this, learn from it, unu know why mi say dat.
